Karen Ginnis


Karen Ginnis currently serves as Director of Community Network for the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty ("Met Council"). 
 
Karen has been with Met Council for two years, most recently as the Director of Project Liberty.  Working for NYC’s 25th largest non-profit in the New York metropolitan area, as rated by Crain’s NY, Karen is responsible for liaison and coordination with Met Council’s grassroots community network of 25 local Jewish Community Councils (JCCs) throughout the five boroughs.  This network serves over 100,000 needy people annually with crisis intervention, food and pantry services, homecare and housing.  Karen works with the local JCCs to identify and resolve emerging issues and social service trends to ensure targeted interventions. 
 
Karen switched gears professionally after 9/11 seeking to work in a capacity where she could help those in need.  Prior to joining Met Council, Ms. Ginnis had a 20-year history working in the computer and technology industry including prestigious companies such as DoubleClick, IBM , Computer Associates, and Chase Manhattan 
 
Karen has a Bachelor of Science from Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts. 

Karen sits on the Boards and Committees of many local institutions including: Queens Jewish Agency Coalition and the JCRC Immigrant Women's Economic Empowerment Committee in Brooklyn and Queens.
