JEWISH COMMUNITY COUNCILS HOST ASSEMBLY SPEAKER, Mar. 14

            NYS Assembly Speaker Saul Weprin will deliver the keynote address at the 1993  Queens State Legislative  Breakfast sponsored by the Queens and  Northeast Queens Jewish Community Councils, announced  NEQJCC President Corey B. Bearak and QJCC President Abraham Hecht.  It will be held  from  10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Sunday, March 14 at, at the Samuel Field YM&YWHA, 58-20 Little Neck Parkway in Little Neck.  "Our Forum also includes an opportunity for the borough's state legislators to address community leaders throughout Queens," stated Mr. Bearak.  "The result of a new collaboration between the borough's Jewish Community Councils forged under the leadership of the QJCC, the program's co-sponsors include the Jackson Heights-Elmhurst Kehillah and the Flushing Jewish Community Council," noted Mr. Hecht.

"The program is free and the public is welcome." Mr. Hecht added.  "To guarantee a place, it is strongly urged that reservations be made by calling Manny Behar, QJCC Executive Director, at (718) 544-9033 or  Anne Lupkin, NEQJCC Director, at 225-6750 x 248.

"An association of community, education, fraternal and religious organizations, the NEQJCC's area currently extends from Bay Terrace through Queens Village," advised Mr. Bearak.  "Our activities include neighborhood development, sponsorship of political forums with major public figures, combating anti-Semitism, Jewish cultural events,  an annual Health Expo, the welfare of immigrant Jews, open discussions with local rabbis, a Bikur Cholim Society and representing community concerns."

The QJCC represents over 99 synagogues and other Jewish organizations in the borough.  In addition to providing a major voice for the Jewish community, it provides social services borough-wide.
