NORTHEAST QUEENS CELEBRATES ISRAEL AT 60
JEWISH COMMUNITY COUNCIL, HADASSAH CONCERT (JUNE 17) FEATURED YOEL SHARABI

Northeast Queens celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel with a free concert featuring internationally renown Israeli entertainer Yoel Sharabi performing with his Orchestra announced Corey Bearak, chair of the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council (NEQJCC) and Dr. Sandra Alfonsi, National Vice President of Hadassah and a Past President of its Queens Region. The Tuesday, June 17, 7:00 p.m. extravaganza took place in Cunningham Park, Union Turnpike and 196th Street.   City Councilman David Weprin, who strongly supports the Council's programming, attending.  These photos which show Yoel and his orchestra playing, were taken just before intermission.

Concert sponsored include the Friends of Cunningham Park, Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council, Queens Hadassah, UJA-Federation of New York, Jewish Community Relations, Council of New York, Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, Samuel Field Y, the office of Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation. 

On Sunday, June 22, from 11:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m., the NEQJCC and Queens Hadassah reprise the successful Israeli Vendor Fair they collaborated on in 2002 and 2004 at Bayside Jewish Center, 203-05 32nd Avenue, Bayside, NY 11361. "Ben Yehuda Street Celebrates Israel at 60" gives New Yorkers an opportunity to purchases Made In Israel gifts direct from merchants from Israel and support the State of Israel�s economy.

The Ben Yehuda Street fair features vendors will be here direct from Jerusalem with Netef Designs, Yanni, Anini, Adi Jewelry, Judaica, crafts and many more. President Jack Friedman said the Council and Queens Hadassah organized the fair to help the people of Israel who face tough economic times related to violence perpetrated by Palestinian and other terrorists. Visitors to the fair will also enjoy Israeli music performed free (1:00- 4:00 p.m.), featuring special appearances by Yoel Sharabi and others.
