JEWISH COMMUNITY ORGANIZES FOOD DRIVE 

Jewish community organizations and agencies join with local elected officials to kick off the Sixth Annual "Harmony initiative (Hi) Pre-Passover Food Drive," Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 12:30 at the Samuel Y, 58-20 Little Neck Parkway, announced Chairman Corey Bearak and President Jack Friedman of the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council (NEQJCC), which organized the program. also sponsor the month long drive which runs through April 3. �We encourage donations of unopened non-perishable foods such as baby food, beans, pasta, rice, canned food at collection points through out northeast Queens,� stated Gail Eisenberg, the NEQJCC's Executive Director.

Borough President Helen Marshall, Members of Congress Gary Ackerman, Gregory Meeks and Anthony Weiner, State Senators Frank Padavan and Toby Stavisky, Assembly Members Barbara Clark, Mark Weprin, Rory Lancman and Ann Carrozza, Councilmen David Weprin, James Gennaro, Tony Avella and John Liu join NEQJCC, the largest regional Jewish community council in the Greater New York area, to sponsor this program with UJA-Federation of New York, Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, NEQJCC, Samuel Field Y, and many local synagogues and schools. "We want to fight hidden hunger in the community," stated Mr. Bearak.
