The Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council organized a Community Education
Forum, Resources
for Schools and Educational Outcomes:
How less money translates into student underachievement.
The presenters were Hon. Fernando Ferrer, President, Drum Major Institute for Public Policy, and Councilman Robert Jackson, Past-President, Campaign for Fiscal Equity. The forum was moderated by Dr. Sandra Alfonsi, National Vice President of Hadassah and chaired by Helene Zaro, NEQJCC First Vice President. State Senator Frank
Padavan and Councilman David Weprin also attended and spoke. Other notable
participants and attendees included Ken Cohen, President of the Northeast Queens
NAACP; and Evita Belmonte, Queens Member of the Panel for Education Policy of
the NYC Department of Education.
