      JEWISH COMMUNITY KICKS OFF 4th Harmony
      initiative ANNUAL FALL FOOD DRIVE 
      
      Jewish community organizations and agencies joined -
      Councilman David Weprin, State Senators Frank Padavan and Tony Stavisky, and Assembly
      Member Mark Weprin - to kick off the Fourth Annual "Harmony initiative Fall Food Drive," Sunday, September 21, 2008,
      at the Samuel Field Y, announced Chairman Corey Bearak and President Jack Friedman of the Northeast Queens Jewish Community Council (NEQJCC), which organized the program. The month long drive runs through October 17. "We want to fight hidden hunger in the community," stated Mr.
      Bearak who noted food donations may dropped off at the Y, 58-20 Little Neck Parkway in Little
      Neck 
       
      "As the largest regional Jewish community council in the Greater New York area, NEQJCC is proud to sponsor this program with the Samuel Field/Bay Terrace Y, Parker Jewish Institute for Health Care and Rehabilitation, UJA-Federation of New York, Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty and our elected officials," stated Mr. Friedman. "We encourage donat ions of unopened non-perishable foods such as baby food, beans, pasta, rice, canned food at collection points through out northeast Queens -- including the Samuel Field Y -- and adjoining communities," said NEQJCC Executive Director Gail Eisenberg who organized participation. 
      Additional dropoff sites include Parker and the following NEQJCC member
      synagogues  (list in
      formation): Bay Terrace Jewish Center, Bellerose Jewish Center, Hillcrest Jewish
      Center, Israel Center of Conservative Judaism, Marathon Jewish Center, Temple Torah,
      Whitestone Hebrew Centre, Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, and Young Israel of New Hyde
      Park 
      "Samuel Field Y is proud to partner with Northeast
      Queens Jewish Community Council, [UJA-] Federation and our electeds to
      help those in our community most in need.," said Dr. Steve Goodman,
      Executive Vice President of the �Y�, which hosted its annual
      "Family Fun Day following the Hi Food Drive Kickoff.
