CENTRAL QUEENS YM & YWHA ALIGNS WITH THE SAMUEL FIELD Y

July 7, 2009, New York, NY UJA-Federation of New York is pleased to announce that the Central Queens YM & YWHA and the Samuel Field Y have entered into a management agreement, aligning these two valued facilities under the day-to-day management of the Samuel Field Y while continuing to provide uninterrupted services to the entire community. UJA-Federation enthusiastically supports this arrangement involving these longstanding beneficiary agencies, and the opportunities it creates for the Jewish community of Queens, continuing the invaluable work provided for and within the community, respecting the needs of the diverse Jewish communities served by these facilities, and enhancing and expanding services into western Queens.

The Central Queens Y is fully dedicated and committed to serving the needs of our ever-changing community, said Steven Price, board president of The Central Queens Y.

Therefore, we look forward to working together under a management agreement with the Samuel Field Y to expand our ties within the broader community, bringing greater services
      to the area.

We are looking forward to a greater working relationship between the Samuel Field Y and the Central Queens Y to build a strong and engaged community, added Richard Tanenbaum, board president of the Samuel Field Y. Our goal is to provide unparalleled services to a broader base of Queens residents, from infants to seniors and everyone in between.

The Samuel Field Y team is excited to begin its outreach and collaboration with the community to address population growth, change, and geographic expansion. It is expected that through its management and program expertise, the Samuel Field Y administration will address broader community issues and engage new members in exciting programs. It is also hoped that Samuel Field Ys continued success in securing government grants will enhance their ability to address facility, program, and service needs in the central Queens catchment area. Renovation of Central Queens Y facilities is a priority of the Samuel Field team. Additional service goals include expanded core services for preschoolers, teens, and seniors; piloting of regionalized summer day camping opportunities; added service for people with disabilities, across the age spectrum; and community-based mental-health services.
